Yoshinobu Yamamoto pulls a classy move after his complete game gem in Game 2

Yoshinobu Yamamoto was on double duty on Saturday, cleaning up both Toronto Blue Jays hitters and his team’s dugout afterwards.

The Los Angeles Dodgers ace largely silenced the Canadian crowd in Game 2 of the World Series at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Yamamoto had a bit of a rocky start, allowing George Springer and Nathan Lukes to open the bottom of the first inning with back-to-back hits. But the Japanese national sandwiched a shallow line-out between two strikeouts to strand the runners.

After allowing two more hits and an earned run across the next two innings, Yamamoto shut the door entirely on Toronto. He retired the Blue Jays’ final 20 batters in a row to power the Dodgers to a 5-1 victory without any help from Los Angeles’ bullpen.

Despite being the star of the show on Saturday, Yamamoto acted like the furthest thing from a diva. The All-Star pitcher even took care of the stadium cleaners. He was seen cleaning up all the trash in the Dodgers’ dugout before going back to the clubhouse.

Yamamoto’s complete game was the first in the World Series since 2015. The outing was also the Dodgers star’s second complete game this postseason, which hasn’t been accomplished since Madison Bumgarner did it in 2014.

Yamamoto allowed just four hits and a single earned run with eight strikeouts across his nine innings of work. One of those hits could have easily been ruled an error after Freddie Freeman muffed a routine catch.
