Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto somehow snuck a cannon past security Friday at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y.
The Dodgers paid the Yankees a rare visit for the start of a 3-game interleague series. Yamamoto started the series opener for the road team.
Before even throwing his first pitch, Yamamoto was already a trending topic on social media. The 25-year-old righty captivated fans with his pregame long toss routine.

Yamamoto’s long tosses looked more like rocket launches. He was successfully able to hurl the ball around 300 feet across the field with barely any arc on the throw.
Arguably even more impressive was the fact that he did so with pinpoint accuracy, connecting perfectly with the Dodgers staffer waiting on the other end of the outfield.
Yamamoto wasn’t just a warmup wonder either. He threw seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts in what ended up a 2-1 Dodgers win in extras.

The Yankees also went viral during the contest for a different reason. The team drew ridicule for offering a rather odd piece of Shohei Ohtani merchandise in the stadium stores.
