Allen Iverson doesn’t have a problem with players who sit out games to rest, but it never would have happened to him.
Iverson told ESPN’s Jalen Rose that there would have been a major problem if one of his coaches had tried to hold him out of a game for the purpose of resting him.
“It would’ve been a big problem,” Iverson said. “It would’ve definitely been a big problem. We would’ve definitely had it out, and hopefully I would’ve came out on top.”

In Iverson’s mind, it didn’t matter if he felt bad. However, he doesn’t hold it against players who do sit out games.
“A guy like myself loved to compete night in and night out,” Iverson said. “Tired, hurt, it doesn’t matter. To each his own. If it helps those guys and helps their team, then so be it.”
The NBA has changed. You have the best players in the game sometimes dealing with minutes limits and nights off to manage their workload to ensure maximum freshness for the playoffs. It’s clearly not a practice Iverson would be used to, or really even want to be.
