P.J. Washington recently signed a lucrative contract extension with the Dallas Mavericks, and the mother of one of his children believes some of that money should be coming her way.
Washington and Brittany Renner dated years ago and share a 4-year-old son together. They initially had an agreement for Washington to pay Renner $5,500 in child support, but Renner now says she requires more than six times that amount.
According to court documents that were obtained by TMZ, Renner has asked a court to order Washington to pay her “at least $35,000” per month. Renner says she initially agreed to the $5,500 figure when she and Washington still lived together in North Carolina, but she has since moved to California and “cannot afford the high cost of living given the current child support orders.”
Renner said in the documents that she is “struggling to make end’s meet” and that Washington is exercising less than half of the visitation time he is entitled to, which has put more strain on her. She wrote that she “cannot provide [our son] a life anywhere similar to that of his father.” Renner also noted how Washington and his current wife, who share children together, have “multiple luxury vehicles, constantly post their designer shopping clothes, and boast about luxury vacations.”
“They also constantly post their children wearing designer clothing. In contrast, I live in a humble Airbnb rental in West Hills and shop for (our son’s) clothes at Target,” Renner wrote, according to TMZ.
Renner met Washington when Washington was playing at Kentucky in 2019. She was 26 at the time the two met, and some people accused her of trapping Washington by having a child with him. Renner had a strong response to those allegations.
Washington was traded from the Charlotte Hornets to Dallas midway through the 2023-24 season. He averaged 14.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in his first full season with the Mavericks in 2024-25. Washington signed a 4-year, $88 million extension in September.
