Jimmy Butler’s name keeps coming up in trade rumors, but the latest could shake up the entire draft.
According to Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times, there are some who believe that the Chicago Bulls are “intrigued” at the thought of trading Butler to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for the No. 2 pick.
There’s no indication that any trade is close, or even that the Lakers would be interested in the swap. With Kobe Bryant going into retirement, however, adding a star such as Butler could be an option for Los Angeles. For Chicago, it would probably signal the start of a rebuilding effort coupled with Wednesday’s Derrick Rose trade.
The Lakers are reportedly settled on their choice at No. 2, and it is said that a blockbuster offer would be required to entice them to move it. Whether an offer including Butler qualifies is anyone’s guess, but we recently heard that the Bulls were not willing to move him for Boston’s No. 3 pick.
