Bulls add former NBA head coach to their staff
The Chicago Bulls have a new lead assistant, and it is someone with recent head coaching experience.
Former Washington Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. is joining the Bulls as Billy Donovan’s lead assistant, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Unseld joins Chicago after two-plus seasons in charge of the Wizards.

A longtime assistant under Michael Malone with the Denver Nuggets, Unseld Jr. went 77-130 over parts of three seasons with the Wizards. He never had the best roster, especially after it was gutted prior to last season, which led to his dismissal after a 7-36 start. He has landed on his feet, as his reputation was clearly not significantly diminished by that stint. Malone, for instance, was among those who felt Unseld Jr. got a raw deal from Washington.
The Bulls, meanwhile, are in a state of flux themselves. Unseld Jr. landed this job after a major staff reshuffle following an underwhelming 39-43 season.
