Caitlin Clark is trying to become the greatest WNBA player of all-time, but she already has a clear pick for the greatest NBA player of all-time.
The Indiana Fever star Clark sat down for a Netflix interview with late-night legend David Letterman, who is an Indiana native. During the interview, which was released earlier this month as part of Season 5 of Letterman’s show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” Clark named her NBA “GOAT” — L.A. Lakers star LeBron James.
“LeBron is, like, the greatest player of all-time,” said Clark. “He’s still one of the best players, if not the best player in the world … It’s incredible what he’s done for the game of basketball and the way he’s carried himself. I’ve always been a fan of him.”

Clark also expressed admiration for how James lived up to all of the lofty expectations that were placed on him as a teenager. You can watch the full interview clip below.
Having been born in 2002, Clark’s pick is not very surprising. James was the face of the NBA from Clark’s childhood and beyond, and she got to witness most of his career firsthand while she was growing up. James himself has also spoken out in defense of Clark against her haters before, so there is clearly a mutual admiration there.
The “GOAT” debate is definitely a subjective one, and most people will lean towards anointing the star player of their individual generation (with older fans likely picking Michael Jordan and even older ones probably leaning toward Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). But as for the WNBA phenom Clark, her pick of James is very much set in stone.
