The WNBA is moving quickly to discipline Cheryl Reeve after her fiery press conference on Friday night.
In a release on Saturday, the WNBA announced that the Minnesota Lynx head coach Reeve has been suspended for one game and also fined an undisclosed amount. The release cited Reeve’s conduct and comments during and after Friday’s Game 3 loss to the Phoenix Mercury, including that she aggressively pursued and verbally abused an official and also refused to leave the court in a timely manner after being ejected in the fourth quarter.
Additionally, the WNBA stated that Reeve made inappropriate comments to fans upon leaving the court. The league also cited the remarks that Reeve then made in her postgame press conference. You can read the full release here.

Minnesota lost Friday’s game, a second-round playoff contest at PHX Arena in Phoenix, Ariz., to the Mercury by a final score of 84-76. Reeve was ejected for arguing a no-call in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter and then proceeded to rip the officials in her press conference after the defeat.
Among other colorful remarks, Reeve called out both the referees and WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert for the style of play that was being allowed. She even went so far as to call it “f–king malpractice” (see Reeve’s full rant here).
After Friday’s loss, the Lynx are now facing elimination in the series as they are down 2-1 to the Mercury in the best-of-five affair. If they want to extend their season, they will have to do so without Reeve, who is set to serve her one-game suspension during Game 4 of the series in Phoenix on Sunday.
