Chris Bosh, Heat have reportedly mended their relationship
Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat finally appear to be arriving at a point of closure with one another.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported on Thursday that the Heat organization “has mended its relationship with Bosh in recent weeks, with direct contact between Bosh and the top of the organization.”
Bosh, who has been with the Heat since 2010 and was a centerpiece of the Big Three era that brought home back-to-back NBA championships in 2012 and 2013, has been in a virtual stalemate with the team for many months now due to the blood clotting condition that has kept him off the court for over a year and counting. While still technically under max contract with the Heat, the 11-time All-Star failed a physical before the 2016-17 season. That led to team president Pat Riley declaring Bosh’s career in Miami essentially finished and the bad blood spilling over between the two sides.
But Riley took on a much more conciliatory tone when speaking about Bosh at his year-end press conference last month, which may have been a precursor to the two camps ultimately clearing the air. Bosh is still entertaining the idea of a return to the NBA at some point, but now it sounds like the Heat can finally release him and give him the freedom to potentially pursue that opportunity elsewhere with no hard feelings on either side.
