D’Angelo Russell had his quote before Game 3 against Nuggets age like milk

D’Angelo Russell is on an absolute heater right now … of making himself look foolish.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell was feeling confident before Game 3 against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday. He had just come off a 23-point, seven-triple performance in Game 2 on Monday (albeit in a losing effort) and made a boastful pronouncement on Thursday hours before Game 3.

“I’ve been dominating the season all year,” he told Rosalyn Gold-Onwude of SiriusXM NBA Radio. “You see what I did in the second game, and I’m looking forward to doing it in the third game. I don’t lose confidence.”

Unfortunately for Russell though, he went out and laid an egg in Game 3. With celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne in attendance at the game, Russell finished with as many points as all of them did. He went scoreless on 0-for-7 shooting from the field, missing all six of his three-point attempts to boot as the Lakers lost to the Nuggets 112-105 to fall into an 0-3 series hole.

The former All-Star Russell also had a complete dud in Game 1 against the Nuggets, causing him to get meme’d into oblivion on social media. While he deserved credit for his bounceback performance in Game 2, Russell would probably be wise at this point to drop the braggadocio. Without the play to back it up, Russell is just asking to get roasted, especially after laughably saying a few days ago that the Lakers would still win the series.
