Dillon Brooks has always relished the role of playing the Joker to LeBron James’ Batman, and he was back at it again recently, when he told content creator N3onHQ that the NBA’s all-time leading scorer is overrated.
“I would probably say LeBron right now,” the Suns forward said to N3onHQ about who he thinks is the most “overrated” player in the league today.
“I feel like he overrated right now. His time is coming to an end.”
Brooks may have a point, but given his long history of antagonizing the four-time NBA MVP, it’s easy to dismiss his comments as nothing more than another attempt to get under James’ skin.
Meanwhile, four-time NBA All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins dropped the mic with his reaction to Brooks’ statement.
“If Bron is overrated, who are we?” the former Sacramento Kings star center said on FanDuel’s “Run It Back.”
Added Cousins: “Dillon, I’m one of your biggest fans, but you got to chill.”
That was indeed a bold take from Brooks that was sure to draw strong reactions, much like what Cousins said.
It is also unlikely to be the last controversial thing the former Oregon Ducks star will say about James, however.
Brooks is in the middle of his best season yet in the pros, as he’s averaging a career-high 20.9 points per game while shooting 44% from the field.
