Less than a decade after serving as the head coach of the New York Knicks, Derek Fisher is now coaching at the high school level.
Crespi Carmelite High School announced in a release on Monday that they have hired the retired five-time NBA champion Fisher to serve as their new head basketball coach. Here is the release, per prep writer Jack Pollon.

Fisher, 48, played 18 seasons in the NBA, most of them with the L.A. Lakers. After retirement, he became head coach of the Knicks from 2014-16 but was very unsuccessful, going 40-96 (.294) before getting fired by the team.
More recently, Fisher was head coach for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks from 2019-22. But that stint didn’t go well either as Fisher had a sub-.500 record with the powerhouse Sparks in 2021 and was fired midway through the next season.
As for Crespi, they are a private Catholic all-boys school located in Encino, Calif. The boy’s basketball team finished 18-12 last season (seventh in their league) and saw coach Andrew Moore resign last month after four seasons in charge. Now Fisher will be tasked with leading the basketball program at Crespi, a two-time state champion.
