Derrick Rose reportedly more concerned about rape investigation than he is showing

Derrick Rose Knicks

Derrick Rose has maintained his innocence as he faces an ongoing rape investigation, but that does not mean the New York Knicks newest star feels confident in what the outcome of the case will be.

Chris Mannix of The Vertical reported on Monday that Rose is “troubled by the uncertainty of his legal entanglements more than he is letting on.” When facing questions from the media, Rose has not avoided the topic and insists he did not partake in raping a woman who says Rose and his friends unwillingly had sex with her in August 2013.

Even if Rose believes he will win the civil case, it would be human nature for him to be concerned. The Los Angeles Police Department recently confirmed that there is an open criminal investigation into the incident, and there is some belief that the evidence looks bad for Rose.

Text messages from the night of the sexual encounter have revealed that the plaintiff was unresponsive when Rose and his friends arrived at her apartment. Several text messages and calls from Rose one of the defendants, Ryan Allen, went unanswered between 2 a.m and 3 a.m. Rose and the two other men don’t deny having sex with the plaintiff, but they claim the intercourse was consensual. Even if the plaintiff consented while intoxicated, that is bad news for Rose.

A lengthy article that was published by ThinkProgress.org earlier this month provides many more details about the case.

Rose’s camp has tried to make the plaintiff look bad with stories like these, but the recent information that has surfaced sounds bad for the NBA star and his buddies. Rose, whether innocent or guilty, is right to worry.
