Former Dallas Mavericks teammates Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash will be reuniting on television next season, and Nowitzki is clearly looking forward to it.

NBA reporter Marc Stein reported Tuesday that Nash is joining Amazon Prime’s NBA coverage next season. Nash will work in the studio and on game coverage for Amazon as it takes over one of the league’s broadcast contracts next season.

Amazon has already added Nowitzki to their coverage for next season, meaning the two former Mavericks will be working together. That prompted Nowitzki to joke that he would have to “carry” Nash, “like I did over 25 years ago.”

Now I have to carry this guy again like i did over 25 years ago… https://t.co/NIj4lKcjBc

Nash and Nowitzki played together from 1998 to 2004, when Nash signed with the Phoenix Suns. They grew into stars together and made Dallas a perennial playoff team, which was not at all the case when they joined the organization.

Nowitzki has spent most of his retirement around the Mavericks, though that has changed lately. Nash had embarked on a coaching career, most notably spending two-plus seasons in charge of the Brooklyn Nets.

Amazon is working to assemble a star-studded crew for its NBA coverage. Pairing Nowitzki and Nash together certainly aligns with that strategy.
