Doc Rivers: Blake Griffin could play on Friday
Doc Rivers continues to have confidence in Blake Griffin’s ability to return from a knee injury sooner than later.
Rivers said on Tuesday that Griffin is physically able to play in Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Doc Rivers said Blake Griffin “actually could” play Friday night against the Lakers because “he’s that close” to being ready after being out 13 games with left knee injury

Keep in mind that being physically able to play is different from being medically cleared to play, so it’s not a certainty yet that Griffin will suit up for the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. However, Rivers also said on Saturday that Griffin could return within a week, so this jibes with his previous comment.
Griffin has been out since Nov. 27 with an MCL sprain in his knee. The initial timetable for his absence was supposed to be up to two months, so it looks like Griffin will be back sooner than anticipated.
