Draymond Green nearing automatic suspension for playoff technical fouls

Draymond Green

Draymond Green does not have many weaknesses as a player on the court, but technical fouls is one of them.

Green was called for a technical foul during the second half of Tuesday’s Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets. He received the call as part of double technical fouls called by referee Ed Malloy for a scrap between him and Nene.

The double technicals were called instantly and seemed weak.

That gives Green four technical fouls for the playoffs. Players receive an automatic 1-game suspension when they reach seven technical foul calls in a single postseason. The Warriors still have the rest of this series plus the conference finals and NBA Finals to go. If Green does not get this technical foul rescinded, he won’t have much wiggle room for techs moving forward.

UPDATE: The NBA later rescinded this technical foul call. Green’s next tech came in the third quarter of Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
