Now that they no longer have to sit and wait to see what Kevin Durant does, the Miami Heat are apparently willing to give Dwyane Wade his just rewards.
Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reported Monday that Wade has received an offer of $40 million over 2 years from the Heat.

That works out to $20 million a year, which is more in line with what Wade wanted in the first place and closer to what other teams were reportedly offering. Things even got serious enough that rival executives reportedly believed Wade was serious about exploring alternative options. All things considered, Wade would probably prefer to stay with Miami, but he wants to be fairly compensated after years of taking less money to accommodate other players. There was even talk that the Heat would essentially have to “re-recruit” Wade, such was the poor quality of their initial offer. It remains to be seen if Wade jumps at this offer, but the team, at least, seems to be moving closer to giving him what he’s asked for.
