The Miami Heat will have to reacquaint themselves with their star player if they want to keep him, according to a report.
Ethan J. Skolnick of the Miami Herald reported Sunday that the Heat will have to “re-recruit” Dwyane Wade in free agency, with the guard less than impressed with Miami’s initial offer.
Wade was reportedly given only general parameters of a potential contract, and was asked to wait until the Heat squared things away with Hassan Whiteside and Kevin Durant before getting specific.

The Heat appear to have taken Wade for granted. They just assumed he would be there once again after they squared away a bunch of other business, having sacrificed a number of times in the past to accommodate them. This seems to have been a miscalculation with Wade now publicly flirting with other teams. The fans have already had their say, and now it’s up to Pat Riley and company to do some damage control.
