Report: Four teams could test Bucks with Malcolm Brogdon offer sheet

Malcolm Brogdon

The Milwaukee Bucks are facing a luxury tax bill if they retain their key free agents, and some teams are ready to test their resolve to pay it with a big offer sheet for restricted free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon.

According to Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, and Dallas Mavericks could table an offer sheet for Brogdon and put the Bucks in a position of having to match it to keep the young guard. The Boston Celtics could also become involved if their pursuit of free agent Kemba Walker falls short.

League executives believe that a team could put together an offer sheet that gives Brogdon a high salary next season and a number of bonuses that only Milwaukee would have to pay. With the Bucks expected to re-sign forward Khris Middleton, this would put them in a tough spot salary-wise.

The Bucks have already been working to open up as much cap space as possible as they try to keep a talented core together. If other teams believe Brogdon can be lured away, they’ll make Milwaukee’s life difficult.
