Gregg Popovich used his team’s blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday night as an opportunity to take a shot at the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavs fired head coach David Blatt last Friday, four days after Cleveland lost at home to the Warriors 132-98. The Spurs were hammered by Golden State in Oakland Monday 120-90, leading Pop to get off this quote after the game:
Pop: "I'm just glad my general manager wasn't in the locker room. I might have gotten fired."

Many fellow coaches have spoken out about the Cavs’ controversial decision to fire Blatt, and Pop is the latest. Luckily the five championships Pop has won has bought him endless job security, so nobody would think of firing him after a game like that. The same could not be said for Blatt.
In addition to Popovich, Stan Van Gundy had some very strong words about Blatt’s firing, as did Erik Spoelstra.
