This makes sense given the context of the Grizzlies’ season and what was reported last week. Grizzlies owner Robert Pera met with Gasol and Conley last week. There was speculation that they were talking about potentially trading both players.
The Grizzlies have lost six in a row and and are 19-28 this season. They look poised to become a lottery team.
Gasol, who turns 34 later this month, has a $25.5 million player option for next season. Conley is making $32.5 million next season and has a $34.5 million player option for the following season.
