Report: Grizzlies consider Marc Gasol untouchable in any potential trade talks
Inquire about Marc Gasol’s trade availability, and the Memphis Grizzlies are probably hanging up the phone on you mid-sentence.
Matt Moore of CBS Sports reported on Wednesday that the Grizzlies consider their All-Star big man untouchable in any potential trade talks. Moore also adds that guard Mike Conley falls into the same category for Memphis.
The 32-year-old Gasol averaged a career-high 19.5 points to go along with 6.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game for the Grizzlies last season. He has played his entire nine-year NBA career in Memphis.
Uncertainty has recently clouded Gasol’s future with the Grizzlies however due to some comments he made last month hinting at frustration with them. He even went so far as to signal a willingness to leave Memphis altogether.
Nevertheless, Gasol is under contract for at least the next two seasons, so it sounds like his only options if he wants out are to wait out his deal or to demand a trade outright (perhaps to this interested and intriguing team).
