New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson suffered a concerning injury during Game 4 of his team’s opening-round playoff series against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.
The Knicks were trailing 63-61 late in the third quarter at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich., when Brunson had the ball stolen from him at midcourt. The star point suffered an injury to his lower-right leg on the play.
Brunson stayed down for a while near the scorer’s table and appeared to be in significant pain.

A different angle showed that Brunson’s right ankle got awkwardly caught between Dennis Schroder’s legs.

The good news is Brunson was able to return. He went to the locker room and then re-entered the game during the fourth quarter with his right ankle heavily taped.
While it is a positive sign that Brunson was able to return, the situation will be one to monitor. Brunson missed roughly a month late in the regular season after he suffered a right ankle injury on March 6. If he tweaked the same ankle, it is possible he will have to play through pain going forward in the playoffs.
