Jaylen Brown delivered a blunt assessment of the NBA’s business realities following his trade from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Appearing on IShowSpeed’s livestream while watching a World Cup quarterfinal, the five-time All-Star expressed his frustration after a decade with the Celtics.
“I just got traded… It’s a crazy business, bro. Don’t become a basketball player. There’s no loyalty, there’s no love. They packed me up, sayonara chat, I’m out of here,” Brown said.
The 29-year-old, who posted career highs of 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists last season while finishing sixth in MVP voting, was dealt for Paul George and multiple draft picks. Brown had helped Boston to multiple deep playoff runs, including an NBA title.
Despite the bitterness, Brown acknowledged excitement about teaming with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid in Philadelphia, even recruiting LeBron James to join them. He noted the mental adjustment required after years of viewing the 76ers as rivals.
The move highlights the NBA’s cutthroat nature, where even proven contributors and champions face sudden change. Brown remains focused on proving himself in his new uniform.
