Jayson Tatum shares inspirational quote he got from Kobe Bryant

Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum has the potential to be one of the best players in the NBA for years to come, and the Boston Celtics phenom is trying to model his game and work ethic after that of Kobe Bryant. If the 20-year-old wants someone to help him achieve that goal, who better than Kobe Bryant?

On Thursday, Tatum shared some photos on Instagram from a workout he had with Kobe. He included some motivational words that Bryant passed along to him.

“How much does it mean to you” @kobebryant

It’s easy to see a lot of Kobe’s game in Tatum. The former Duke star is a slasher who can hit shots from anywhere on the floor and isn’t afraid to go to the hoop. No one was better at that than Bryant during his Hall of Fame career. If you want to know how much Tatum values Kobe’s opinion, recall what he said earlier this year about Kobe giving him pointers.

While Lakers fans will probably cringe at the sight of Bryant sharing wisdom with a Celtics player, times have clearly changed. One of Kobe’s biggest rivals during his career — LeBron James — is now wearing purple and gold. The days of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson battling it out are long gone.
