Jimmer Fredette once again found himself out of the NBA in the 2016-17 season, but this time it was out of his volition.
According to a report by Ken Tingley of The Post-Star over the weekend, Fredette, who played out the year with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association, received multiple 10-day contract offers from NBA teams upon his return from China. The ex-BYU Cougars star turned them down however, as he was apparently content to stay home with his wife Whitney and their newborn daughter Wesley.
The 28-year-old Fredette averaged a CBA-leading 37.6 points on the season for the Sharks. He was indeed rumored to have interest in an NBA return last month after finding his way back into the news with absurd single-game scoring performances like this. Tingley also adds that Fredette already has an offer to play in China again next year, so it’s anyone’s guess if the former No. 10 overall pick will ever return to the Association.
