Minnesota Timberwolves guard Jimmy Butler is looking for as much cap space as possible as he tries to leave the team, according to a report.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Butler’s three preferred destinations are the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, and New York Knicks. None are contenders right now, but all will have a lot of cap space to give Butler a max deal going forward.

Minnesota's Jimmy Butler has three preferred destinations for a trade, league sources tell ESPN: The Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks. Those three teams have max cap space to sign Butler as a free agent in July.

Reports indicate that Butler has requested a trade. Judging by his list, he’s not extremely concerned with winning right away, and wants to become a franchise cornerstone, get paid, and have the team build around him. The Knicks with Kristaps Porzingis would be an intriguing landing spot that could theoretically be turned into a contender with the right moves.
