Joel Embiid dismisses Jared Dudley as a ‘nobody’

Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid threw all the shade at Jared Dudley after the Philadelphia 76ers’ big win over the Brooklyn Nets in Game 4 of their first-round playoff series on Saturday.

Dudley and Jimmy Butler were ejected for an altercation during the third quarter of the game, which began when Embiid fouled Jarrett Allen hard. Embiid tried to stay away from the skirmish and was even shown backing away with his hands up like he didn’t want to be involved. Dudley came after him with a shove, Butler shoved Dudley back, and then Ben Simmons got involved.

After his 76ers pulled out the 112-108 win, Embiid referred to Dudley as a “nobody” in his postgame comments to TNT’s Ros Gold-Onwude.

That’s savage, but the entire quote shows how wise Embiid is. We already knew he was a trash talker, but he showed maturity and discipline by not involving himself further in the fight and explaining why.

Embiid is too valuable to his team to get involved in situations like that and ejected. His 31 points, 16 rebounds,7 assists and 6 blocks prove that. Butler needs to learn the same lesson. As for Dudley, his comments about Ben Simmons clearly got under Philly’s skin.
