John Beilein withdraws from Pistons’ head coaching search
The Detroit Pistons appear to be a step closer to naming their new head coach.
On Wednesday, Michigan head coach John Beilein announced on Twitter that he will continue coaching the Wolverines next season.
I love the University of Michigan and I am excited about coaching our Men’s Basketball Team next season and in the years to come ! Let’s go hang some more banners at “THE GREATEST UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD “#GoBlue

The announcement from Beilein came on the heels of reports that he had met with Pistons executives. Former Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey has also met with Detroit officials, and he could be on the verge of landing the job with Beilein seemingly out of the picture.
Beilein has enjoyed great success in recent years at Michigan, leading the team to the national championship game twice. There was some speculation that he was using the Pistons’ vacancy for leverage in contract talks with Michigan, but it does not seem like that was the case.
