John Wall left viewers deeply impressed Friday night after rattling off where numerous NBA players went to college.
Wall, in his first season as a Prime analyst, was given a list of 20 NBA players and challenged to name where they went to college. It was a fairly obscure list of players, but Wall still got 16 of 20 and was upset with himself over the ones he didn’t get.

Many social media users commented on how refreshing it was for a basketball telecast to embrace their analysts’ knowledge of the sport. Many contrasted the segment with “Inside the NBA,” and joked that Charles Barkley would have been lucky to get one right.

ESPN gonna go out sad. Charles Barkley can’t even name 15 players in the league 😭

As popular as Barkley is, there is no debate that this is not an area where he would excel. He is known more for his takes than for an encyclopedic knowledge of the sport.
Wall made it clear he wanted to make use of his extensive basketball knowledge when he took this job last year. It is safe to say he is doing just that, and is drawing plenty of plaudits for it.
