Ex-teammate had great comment about how Jose Alvarado will spend his $500,000
Josh Hart had a great comment about how Jose Alvarado plans to spend the $500,000 he would receive if his team wins the NBA In-Season Tournament.
Alvarado’s New Orleans Pelicans have reached the semifinals of the In-Season Tournament and will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. Players on the team that wins the tournament will receive $500,000. Players on the runner-up team will receive $200,000 each, and the players on teams that lose in the semis will all receive $100,000.
Alvarado received wisespread praise on Wednesday after ESPN’s Marc J. Spears reported that the Pelicans guard plans to put aside whatever money he earns from the tournament for his daughters.
Many people found Alvarado’s plans to be commendable, but his former teammate, Hart, went in a different direction.
Hart, who is now with the New York Knicks, posted on X in response to the story.
“What a loser. Go get you some ice,” Hart said, suggesting that Alvarado should use the money to buy jewerly/diamonds aka “ice.”

Hart, of course, was completely joking. However, it was hard for some on X to recognize that.
Hart played three seasons on the Pelicans before being traded in 2022. He overlapped with Alvarado during the latter’s rookie season. Alvarado is now in his third season with New Orleans.
Alvarado has some good plans for his money, though they might not be as fun as what someone else has planned.
