The Sacramento Kings could reportedly have a disgruntled All-Star in the not-too-distant future.
With a 36-37 record entering Friday, the Kings have been the definition of mediocrity this season. The team signed DeMar DeRozan in the offseason and traded away longtime starting point guard De’Aaron Fox for Zach LaVine.
The moves have gotten mixed results as the team is virtually locked into a bottom-two play-in tournament spot. Sacramento could even miss the postseason entirely depending on how the end of the season shakes out.

The Kings are expected to be “big sellers” ahead of the 2026 NBA trade deadline, according to ClutchPoints reporter Brett Siegel.
With the DeRozan and LaVine acquisitions still fresh, Sacramento are reportedly planning to run it back this offseason. But if the team fails to find any clear direction by next season, 3-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis is “likely” to request a trade.
Sabonis is having another stellar season in Sacramento. Domas has played like a discount version of Nikola Jokic, averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 assists, and an NBA-best 14.0 rebounds in his fourth year with the team. He’s also shooting almost 60% from the field and nearly 40% from three-point range.
Despite having some defensive limitations, Sabonis would surely interest several teams looking to add a playmaking center.
