Luke Walton’s new job with the Sacramento Kings is not in danger, at least for now, amid a sexual assault allegation.
According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, there is no momentum within the Kings’ organization to fire Walton at this point after he was accused of sexual assault by a former reporter. At the moment, the Kings are focused on learning the facts behind the allegation, which general manager Vlade Divac did not know about until it became public.
Fact-finding has been difficult for the moment, as the Kings have had difficulty acquiring a copy of the lawsuit in which the allegation is made.
Walton’s attorney has said that the allegation is “not credible.” It is likely that this will be a fairly methodical process, and the Kings will want all the facts before making a decision on the future of the coach they just hired.
