Report: Kristaps Porzingis investigated for rape claim
Kristaps Porzingis is being investigated by the New York Police Department for a rape he allegedly committed last year, according to a report.
The New York Post on Saturday reported the news regarding Porzingis. They say the woman claims she was raped by Porzingis on Feb. 7, hours after the former Knicks star suffered a torn ACL during a game. The woman, who is in her 20s, lives in the same luxury Sky building in Midtown West as Porzingis. She invited him over to her place around 2:00 a.m. and then went back to his place, where she says he held her down and raped her.
The woman only went to police about the matter on Thursday, over a year after the alleged incident took place. She reportedly did so because she claims Porzingis reneged on a commitment to pay her $68,000 in hush money.
The case is currently being handled by the NYPD Special Victims unit.
In the hours after his injury, Porzingis and other members of his entourage did tequila shots, according to a documentary.
Porzingis was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 31.
