Kyrie Irving has to expect that the media will be paying closer attention to him as he inches toward free agency this summer, but the Boston Celtics star feels that the way people reacted to his conversation with Kevin Durant at the All-Star Game is nothing shy of asinine.
There has been a lot of talk about Irving and Durant potentially teaming up with the New York Knicks, and one interaction they had in Charlotte really set the internet ablaze.

On Wednesday, Irving was asked if he wants to address all the buzz surrounding his interactions with Durant. He made it clear that he thinks it’s absurd people are even talking about it and said these are the reasons he has chosen to “disconnect” from social media.

“Pour water on it?” Irving said. “I’m a human being talking to another best friend of mine. Like, it’s just crazy. This is the stuff that just doesn’t make the league fun. Nobody helps promote the league even more by doing bulls— like that, of just fictitious putting things on what we’re talking about.”
When a reporter explained to Irving that it’s the media’s job to ask questions about topics that interest fans, the star point guard seemed even more bothered.
“So it’s a video of me and one of my best friends talking, and then it turns out to be a dissection of a free agency meeting?” he said. “Do you get that? Like, do you get that? And then I’m asked questions about it? That’s what disconnects me from all that s—.”
Irving said before the season that he plans to re-sign with the Celtics this summer, and it could be his frustration with the media that led to his recent interesting response about the topic.
