Report: Lakers also making Larry Nance Jr available for trade
The Los Angeles Lakers may see another member of their young core as potentially expendable.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday that the Lakers are making Larry Nance Jr. available for trade along with fellow youngsters Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle, who are both widely reported to be on the block.
The 25-year-old Nance, who is under contract through the 2018-19 season, is averaging 8.6 points and 6.4 rebounds (both career-highs) in 21.5 minutes per game this year. This news comes as a bit of a surprise, as Nance is one of the most versatile and athletic players in the Lakers frontcourt.
Granted, the Lakers are a Western Conference-worst 12-27 at the moment and are presumably thinking more about maintaining long-term flexibility for free agency. That coupled with the emergence of another young Lakers forward could ultimately make Nance an odd man out in Los Angeles.
