Report: Lakers veterans got heated with Luke Walton after game
The Los Angeles Lakers had a heated blowout after their loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, according to a report.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania says some veterans — including Michael Beasley and JaVale McGee — got heated with head coach Luke Walton after the game. Charania says it stopped short of getting physical.
In postgame locker room, Luke Walton preached to players on playing unselfishly, sources said, when several veteran players snapped back. As one source described it, “Heated scene.” https://t.co/w7YXNeVgRl

The Lakers were playing the Warriors close before falling behind over the last seven or eight minutes and losing 115-101. Some of the topics that apparently came up included playing time and rotations.
The veteran players raised their voice on topics of Walton’s playing time distribution and rotations, sources said. Hope afterward among players and coaches was that this helped cleanse issues within the team. https://t.co/NEEZ9Vyx4n

This sort of incident will not help the perception that the Lakers may need to make a coaching change, which is something LeBron James’ camp apparently would like.
