Report: LaMelo Ball shopping documentary about road to NBA

LaMelo Ball

LaVar Ball and his sons are always looking for ways to make money off the basketball court, and the youngest Ball brother is hoping viewers at home have interest in his journey to the NBA.

LaMelo Ball’s representatives have been shopping a documentary series about the 18-year-old’s road to the NBA Draft, according to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports. The documentary is drawing some interest, as LaMelo has a chance to be the top overall pick in the draft. However, one media source told McCarthy that Ball’s reps have been seeking somewhere in the $2 million range, which is considered too steep for most suitors.

Ball and his family are obviously accustomed to having cameras around them at all times. LaMelo and his brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo have starred in the Facebook Live series “Ball in the Family” along with their father LaVar. The series is now in its fifth season and has been successful on Facebook with an average of over 1 million viewers per episode.

LaMelo Ball also has a prominent social media following, with more than 5 million followers on Instagram and another 1 million-plus combined between his Facebook and Twitter accounts. That could contribute to media outlets showing interest in the documentary he has been pitching.

We have already heard of several NBA teams who are scouting LaMelo, and many believe he has the potential to have the best professional career of the three Ball brothers.
