LeBron James congratulates himself on personal milestone as Cavs drama builds
The Cleveland Cavaliers have lost nine of their last 12 games and appear to have reached a crossroads in their season, but that isn’t going to stop LeBron James from taking a moment to congratulate himself on hitting yet another career milestone — in advance, no less.
LeBron needs just seven more points to become only the seventh player in NBA history to score 30,000-plus points in his career. He will likely hit that mark in Tuesday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. So rather than wait for everyone else to shower him in praise, LeBron took to Instagram to congratulate his younger self.
“Wanna be one of the first to Congratulate you on this accomplishment/achievement tonight that you’ll reach!” James wrote. “Only a handful has reach/seen it too and while I know it’s never been a goal of yours from the beginning try (please try) to take a moment for yourself on how you’ve done it! The House you’re about to be apart of has only 6 seats in it (as of now) but 1 more will be added and you should be very proud and honored to be invited inside. There’s so many people to thank who has help this even become possible (so thank them all) and when u finally get your moment(alone) to yourself smile, look up to the higher skies and say THANK YOU! So with that said, Congrats again Young King! 1 Love!”
Aside from not being a very humble thing to do, LeBron’s post may look bad since it comes in the wake of a report indicating there are some serious problems going on in the Cavs’ locker room. Perhaps this is his way of downplaying the report. Or, maybe LeBron just wanted to give the “Young King” the credit he deserves, if he does say so himself.
