LeBron James was very happy for longtime friend Carmelo Anthony after a major announcement Wednesday.
Anthony was notified Wednesday that he would be a first-ballot inductee to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Few were happier for Anthony than James, his longtime friend.
James posted a message to X effusively congratulating Anthony on the honor.

“CONGRATULATIONS MY BROTHER!” James wrote, accompanied by a host of emojis.

Anthony was a pretty easy choice for the Hall of Fame. Though he never won an NBA title, he averaged 22.5 points per game over his 19-year career and was a six-time All-NBA selection.
Anthony and James entered the NBA together and are known to be very close. They did briefly play together on the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021-22, which proved to be Anthony’s final NBA season.
James will inevitably join Anthony in the Hall of Fame once he calls it quits and becomes eligible. Until then, he will get to be absolutely thrilled for inductees like Anthony with whom he is very close.
