LeBron James has apparently not been a fan of JaVale McGee for quite some time — at least if social media is any indication. But now that the two are teammates, something had to give.
On Tuesday, a Reddit user noticed that LeBron began following McGee on Instagram. Why is that noteworthy? If you dig back more than two years on McGee’s Instagram page, you’ll see that he discovered LeBron had blocked him.
McGee and James both signed with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, so taking McGee out of Instagram jail makes sense for LeBron. While it’s unclear exactly what it was that LeBron had against the big man, some have speculated that James held a grudge since McGee tried to dunk over him many years ago.
McGee is known for making some incredibly boneheaded decisions on the court, so perhaps LeBron just wasn’t a fan of his game. Whatever the case, McGee was a member of the last two NBA championship teams with the Golden State Warriors. He could provide valuable depth and experience in L.A., and LeBron likely recognizes that.
