Luis Scola heaps praise on Kyle Lowry: ‘He’s the soul of our team’

Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry has struggled greatly from the field so far during the postseason, and the Toronto Raptors star has been extremely hard on himself over it. After hearing what veteran teammate Luis Scola had to say about him this week, Lowry’s spirits should be a bit higher.

When asked what is wrong with Lowry so far these playoffs, Scola said Lowry is the “soul” of the Raptors and should not be feeling down.

Those are some extremely powerful words from a guy who has been around the league for a long time.

Lowry has slipped into a shooting slump at a terrible time. After shooting 43 percent from the field and averaging 21.2 points per game during the regular season, he is hitting just over 30 percent of his shots during the playoffs. Lowry only shot 31.6 percent from the field last postseason, so perhaps he is feeling the pressure.

In Tuesday night’s Game 1 loss to the Miami Heat, Lowry hit an incredible half-court shot (video here) to send the game to overtime. However, he shot just 3-of-13 from the field overall and the Raptors went on to lose. Lowry stayed at the arena for hours after the game working on his jump shot.

The good news for the Raptors is they have made it this far despite Lowry struggling. He can turn it on at any moment, and Toronto will be even more dangerous if and when that happens.
