The Los Angeles Lakers are in desperate need of a superstar after yet another disappointing season ended with Kobe Bryant retiring. Heading into a pivotal summer, Magic Johnson wants to see his former team aim as high as possible.
How high? LeBron James and Kevin Durant high.
On Monday morning, Johnson said the Lakers should make Durant their top priority this offseason. He would also like to see them at least inquire about LeBron.

Laker Nation: The first free agent the Lakers should go after is Kevin Durant.

Laker Nation: I would love to see Kevin Durant in the Purple & Gold!

Laker Nation: The Lakers should call LeBron James agent. We know he's going stay in CLE but they should go after him just in case he leaves.

Durant leaving Oklahoma City seems much more likely than LeBron leaving Cleveland again. In fact, one report even claimed Durant is leaning toward joining the Lakers if he leaves the Thunder, though he denied it. It’s also worth noting that Durant has been linked to at least a half-dozen other teams.
While LeBron loves keeping the Cavaliers on their toes with cryptic tweets like this one, the chances of him jumping ship again seem incredibly low. Why would he want to go play for the team that the player he was most often compared to — Kobe Bryant — won five championships with? LeBron’s legacy would stand nothing to gain from playing in L.A. Trying to win a title in Cleveland is still the best thing for his career.
