All the talk about the Atlanta Hawks looking to trade down in the draft apparently was true.
The Hawks and Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a trade that will send Luka Doncic to Dallas, while Atlanta will receive Trae Young, whom Dallas will take at No. 5. The Hawks will also receive a future first-round pick from Dallas.

The pick is expected to have several protections.
The Mavericks are looking for a new franchise player with Dirk Nowitzki aging. Between last year’s first-round pick Dennis Smith Jr and Doncic, they would have a nice core to rebuild.
Atlanta is also looking to rebuild and will add a future first-rounder to their arsenal, in addition to Young.
