The Philadelphia 76ers may have the ultimate weapon on their side for Game 5 of their playoff series against the Miami Heat on Tuesday.
Rapper Meek Mill was released on bail Tuesday after a highly-publicized five month prison stay for a parole violation. 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin said on Instagram he was going to pick up Meek Mill from Chester State prison.

Rubin also told the New York Times’ Daniel Victor that Meek would likely be in attendance for Game 5 of the series and likely ring the bell to fire up the home crowd prior to the game.
Just spoke to Sixers co-owner Michael Rubin. He said it’s “more likely than not” Meek Mill will attend Game 5 tonight, and he’ll ring the ceremonial bell pre-game if he can get there in time.

Michael Rubin, Sixers co-owner, said Joel Embiid called him and was “going crazy, dancing in bed” at the Meek Mill news.

The Philadelphia rapper’s case has been front-and-center over the last several months. He has received many high-profile visitors and has had the support of many, including Patriots owner Robert Kraft. That all helped his legal case and the efforts to get him released.
“I’d like to thank God, my family, and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time,” Meek Mill said in a statement posted to Twitter. “While the past five months have been a nightmare, the prayers, visits, calls, letters and rallies have helped me stay positive. To the Philly District Attorney’s office, I’m grateful for your commitment to justice. I understand that many people of color across the country don’t have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues. In the meantime, I plan to work closely with my legal team to overturn this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music career.”
