Impending free agent point guard Mike Conley has spent his entire career with the Memphis Grizzlies. He’d like to keep it that way, but he admitted that he needs to see progress from the team if they want him to stay.
“We need to be committed to doing the things, whatever it may be and however hard the decision may be, to do the right things in order to get us where we need to go,” Conley said Monday via ESPN, a day after Memphis was swept by the Spurs.
“This city is all I know,” Conley admitted, saying his ideal outcome would be to remain in Memphis.
Coach Dave Joerger said he is optimistic that Conley will return to the Grizzlies.
Conley would get his fair share of interest on the market, and interestingly, one of the teams he’s been linked with is waiting himself to see what happens in free agency. Of course, at least one of Conley’s teammates would have something to say about that.
