Mike Miller to remain with Knicks even if he does not become permanent head coach?
The New York Knicks were a much-improved team under Mike Miller this season, and the organization may want to reward him for his efforts somehow.
Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reported on Saturday that some within the Knicks would like to see Miller be offered an assistant coaching gig or other job with the team even if he does not land the full-time head coaching spot. Begley cites the respect that Miller earned as both the interim coach and as coach of the Knicks’ G-League team.
Miller took over in December after the Knicks fired David Fizdale. While the team still went 17-27 under Miller, the 55-year-old coach improved on Fizdale’s winning percentage for the season by more than double.
Miller will still be a candidate for the Knicks’ head coaching job, but the list of competitors is a rather fierce one. Regardless however, it sounds like the team will find a way to do right by him.
