Former NBA All-Star says Tyrese Haliburton snubbed him at event

Tyrese Haliburton is apparently not a fan of a former NBA All-Star who came before him.

During this week’s episode of the “Club 520 Podcast,” retired ex-NBA guard Jeff Teague made an unflattering claim about the Indiana Pacers star Haliburton. Both Teague and Haliburton were in attendance during WWE SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. last month.

However, Teague says that he tried to reach out to shake Haliburton’s hand at the event … only to get snubbed.

“I put my hand out to shake Tyrese’s hand at the wrestling event,” said Teague. “He turned the other way. He faded me … His pops [John Haliburton] was cool though. His pops said [hello].”

Here is the full clip of Teague’s remarks (but watch out for the bad language).

It appears that the bad blood here stems from the critical comments that Teague made about Haliburton and the Pacers during their run to the 2025 NBA Finals. On the very same podcast months ago, Teague, an All-Star back in 2015, called Indiana the worst team in Finals history. He also went in on Haliburton specifically, saying on another show that the 25-year-old was not a superstar (among other harsh remarks).

Teague is actually an Indianapolis native as well as a former Pacers player (from 2016-17). He has openly stated though that he has hard feelings for the team over their decision to go in a different direction when he became a free agent in 2017.

On top of that, Teague has become known for making outrageous or otherwise controversial comments on the “Club 520 Podcast,” possibly in an attempt to go viral. Over the summer, Teague sparked backlash with a claim about LeBron James supposedly being on steroids.

As for Haliburton, he has already been ruled out for the entire 2025-26 season due to the torn Achilles tendon that he suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. In the meantime however, Haliburton is standing on business and not trying to be all buddy-buddy with those who take shots at him in public.
