Report: Nets expected to trade away 3 players
The Brooklyn Nets may be ready to sell in bulk.
Veteran NBA writer Marc Stein reported to his Substack on Sunday that rival teams expect the Nets to trade away three particular players ahead of the February deadline. Those three players are guard Dennis Schroder and forwards Bojan Bogdanovic and Dorian Finney-Smith.
All three of those guys indeed fit the mold of likely trade candidates. They are all in their 30s, can all become free agents in the coming offseason, and are all making less than $20 million this season. With the Nets sitting at 4-6 and seemingly moving towards an inevitable full rebuild, selling their aging veterans on expirings at the deadline would be a perfectly reasonable move.
Finney-Smith might be the most valuable trade asset of the three as a top-tier wing defender who also shoots 35.5 percent on his career from deep. But Bogdanovic (currently out with a foot injury) and Schroder both hold some intrigue as well as instant offense guys off the bench. That said, Nets fans may find it difficult to part ways with some of those guys considering how they have brought the vibes so far this season.
