Patrick Beverley made things so awkward during alternate broadcast of IST final
Patrick Beverley has absolutely zero filter, and ESPN had to learn that the hard way on Saturday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers guard Beverley was a guest on the alternate broadcast of the L.A. Lakers-Indiana Pacers In-Season Tournament final. The broadcast aired on ESPN2 and was hosted by comedian Kevin Hart.
Soon after Beverley hopped on the airwaves, Hart complimented Beverley on his honesty and his authenticity. Hart probably came to regret that decision though as Beverley immediately spun it into [checks notes] an opportunity to bring up Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey.
“I got a question too,” said Beverley. “I got a daughter, and I like to call myself a ‘girl dad.’ What you think about the Josh Giddey situation?”
Here is the video.

Understandably, Hart didn’t want any part of that question, and neither did any of his other co-hosts.
Giddey, 21, has been accused of an inappropriate relationship with a minor and is being investigated by both the NBA and local police (though Giddey continues to appear in games for the Thunder like usual). While it is a very popular topic of conversation right now, nobody was expecting for it to come up during the fourth quarter of a championship game between the Lakers and the Pacers.
This is just who Beverley is though. On top of being an all-time great yapper on the court, he also has a podcast where moments like this are the norm.
